Great News....... ASUP calls off strike.

Wow, 10 months?, some will exclaim, but yeah, your saw and read right, its 10 months of staying at home doing different useful or useless things for our polytechnic friends, but its all over now.

This piece of good news was made public this morning by the National Publicity Secretary of the Union, Clement Chairman who added that all schools are expected to reopen by Tuesday next week for academic activities. It is no news that the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has been on strike for 10 months now over issues relating to the needful development of Nigerian polytechnics.

The decision to end the 10-month old strike was made at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union held in Abuja.

This meeting is following another one which the Union had with the new Minister of Education and former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau which was generally described as “fruitful”.

Well, they said its fruitful, but i would say it took too long, a child of 10 months should have started saying "Up Nepa" self, but all the same, the news is just great. I am sure this will give us a sound relieve from all the poignant news we have heard so far via this week.
