MY SWEATY EXPERIENCE (part1)

I am sure you opened your mouth wide in surprise of the topic of this article or you probably took a cup of clean water or stretched your body in anticipation of a super interesting article, well am definitely not going to disappoint you via this article. Taking a swipe on recent inspirations, I settled on this trendy topic as it relates to some memorable sweaty experiences I had during my NYSC days.

First and most importantly, let's peruse the definitions of the words "Sweat" and "Sweaty", According to the online dictionary, Sweat is defined as the colourless saline moisture excreted by the sweat glands through the skin pores, while Sweaty is the of an individual being covered with or smelling of sweat. Okay, having established this, we will focus on some sweaty NYSC experiences of mine  and review a very short story on sweat too.

Let me quickly share a short story written by Zora Neale Houston, titled SWEAT. She was an American writer and the book was first published in 1926, the story revolves around the life of a once beautiful woman, who lost all her beauty while married to a very wicked man, she worked as a washer woman, who took the wears of the whites and some blacks and washed them, she receives her pay after successfully delivering the clean wears to her clients. The husband was unemployed and treated her badly. The story further elucidates that the woman, whose name is Delia, is a good christian and very beautiful but lost her beauty barely two months into the marriage, because of the way she was maltreated by her husband. Severally, she points out the fact that she went through a lot of sweaty experiences to bring food to the house and carter for the home. In summary, the husband tried to kill her by implanting a rattle snake into her loads of dirty laundries, his plan backfired as the snake bit him instead.

My NYSC experience had some sweaty days, yes days that I sweated so much that the emitted scent/odour was not pleasant, but, hey, that was the fun of the scheme. Let me dive in a little to share some of these sweaty experiences with you, yes you. My first sweaty moment was the day before our induction, we drilled on the parade ground for some hours in the hot sun, morning and evening, the soldiers were teaching some people who have not or never done a parade before in their lives on how to obey simple parade commands. On the induction day, the sun showed its prowess by smiting us dangerously, but we survived, the ceremony seemed like an unending one as thick sweat dripped through our skin. For me, I was sucked so much that you can squeeze liquid substances from my khaki trouser, though a the end of the ceremony we were given the day off to rest.

Another sweaty experience was during sports, I played football, defending through the right side of the pitch as the platoon's number two, I played my best, defending attacks staged by our opponents and doing some skillful play to aid counter attacks at intervals, though we were knocked out during the quarter finals, as we were unable to hold on during the penalty play-off.

Thank you for going through this piece, join me next week for the conclusion of this article, My sweaty experience.
